SPR Principal Meg Holden to Speak at Session 8 of ELI Summer School Series: “Hazardous Waste and Sites”

On July 22, from 12:00-2:00pm EST, SPR Principal Meg Holden will serve as a panelist for Session 8 of the Environmental Law Institute’s Summer School Series on “Hazardous Waste and Sites.”

ELI’s Summer School is a series of seminars offering an introduction to the legal and policy foundations of environmental protection in the United States. Subject matter experts discuss core U.S. environmental statutes, climate change and energy law, and environmental justice, and explore recent regulatory and judicial developments.

Session 8, “Hazardous Waste and Sites,” will examine the events that led to the enactment of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), as well as the statutes’ legal foundations. Panelists will explore the regulatory and liability efforts used to manage hazardous waste and sites, focusing on the definitions of hazardous substances and hazardous waste, the basic elements of RCRA and CERCLA, and recent hazardous substance designations and hazardous constituent listings.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
