Daniel Riesel and Pamela Esterman to Chair Upcoming Environmental Law Conference

On February 9-10, 2017, SPR principals Daniel Riesel and Pamela Esterman will co-chair the 47th annual ALI CLE Environmental Law Course in Washington, DC. The course, which is co-sponsored by ALI CLE and the Environmental Law Institute, will feature advanced-level presentations by senior public officials, distinguished law professors, seasoned private practitioners, and experienced public interest advocates. The course will feature a discussion of environmental priorities under the new administration;
In addition to chairing the course, Daniel Riesel will lead a panel on CERCLA and RCRA, and Pamela Esterman will lead a panel on ethical issues associated with environmental practice. Principal Mark Chertok will co-lead a panel on emerging issues under NEPA, state NEPAs, and environmental justice, and Principal Kathy Robb will speak about recent developments in the Clean Water Act. Michael Gerrard, Andrew Sabin Professor of Professional Practice at Columbia Law School, will deliver the course’s keynote address on the impact of global warming on the practice of environmental law.
Additional panels will provide updates and explore recent trends in:
- Cases that have been granted certiorari before the Supreme Court;
- Developments under the Clean Air Act and the Clean Power Plan;
- The TSCA Amendments;
- Corporate environmental transparency;
- Wetlands litigation and regulation; and
- The Endangered Species Act.
