By SPRLAW

By: Jonathan Kalmuss-Katz

On Wednesday, November 15 at 9:00 a.m., Sive, Paget & Riesel will host Manufacturer Obligations Under New York’s E-Waste Law, a live workshop.  The event, which will also be webcast by the Environmental Law Institute (ELI), will feature presentations by SPR associate Maggie Macdonald as well as by representatives of ELI and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

New York’s Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act requires electronics manufacturers to provide for the free and convenient collection of various of types of electronic waste, or e-waste, within New York State, for recycling.  The workshop will provide an overview of the law’s background and scope, as well as practical advice on navigating DEC’s online registration and reporting system.

Maggie Macdonald has advised electronics industry clients on compliance with state and federal electronics recycling requirements, and she participated in stakeholder discussions with the New York Product Stewardship Council regarding draft regulations implementing New York’s e-waste law.

The upcoming workshop/webcast is free, although registration is required here.  For additional information about electronics recycling requirements, contact Maggie Macdonald or Michael Bogin.
