Associate
Daniel is an experienced litigator with a focus on environmental, toxic tort, and product liability law. He guides clients through the New York State Brownfield Cleanup program to redevelop contaminated properties, and assists businesses, community groups, and private individuals with environmental review and permitting of development projects under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). Daniel has helped assemble renewable energy finance deals and advised on New York City waterfront permitting issues. He stays up to date on legal technology including the effective and responsible deployment of artificial intelligence tools.
Prior to joining SPR in late 2022, Daniel was an associate at an international law firm, where he worked in the firm’s product liability and mass tort practice group. Daniel spearheaded litigation strategy, prepared expert and corporate witnesses for deposition, and drafted motions, complaints, and other legal papers and memoranda. Daniel was the lead associate handling a construction dispute on behalf of an affordable housing developer in New York Supreme Court. He represented a conservation group in multiple appeals of state agency action in New Jersey and filed an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in support of international public health organizations. Daniel received six months of training from the global design firm IDEO as part of an award-winning program focused on human-centered design thinking, approaching old problems in new ways, and improving the way people work, serve clients, and provide services.
Daniel received his J.D. in 2018 from the New York University School of Law, where he was a summer honors intern with the New York City Law Department’s Environmental Law Division, served as Articles Editor for the NYU Environmental Law Journal, and participated in the Natural Resources Defense Council’s Environmental Law Clinic.
Prior to law school, Daniel was an advocate and campaign organizer with multiple environmental groups. Daniel completed 40 credits of graduate work in city and regional planning at the Pratt Institute. He is an alumnus of Green Corps: The Field School for Environmental Organizing.
